Before being on this trip, I had no idea about the spiritual realm and or spiritual warfare. I was oblivious to the fact that there’s a war going on right now with angels and demons. That the prince of the world is trying to steal, kill, and destroy. But, we have the Prince of Peace who has already won the battle and will win forever and ever, Amen!
Fast forward, I am in the plane flying to Panama City, Panama from San Jose, Costa Rica. The plane landed, as my foot stepped off the plane, it felt like my chest was being suffocated by a massive weight. It took me by surprise, but I continued to go about my day. My team and I went to Bocas del Toro for our first ministry. If you don’t know what it’s like in Bocas, it’s a beach town filled with “new-agey” shops, and it’s a party destination. Disclaimer, I’m not going to be sharing everything with you that I saw because it would be a whole essay and I want to speak out only what the Holy Spirit is promoting me to say. So, with that I am here to say that God has opened my eyes to the spiritual realm.
Bocas was very heavy and I saw a lot of demons there. Through dreams, visions, and with my physical eye literally on adventure days in a jungle. Even demons attached to people. At first, I was a little scared, but I was reminded of the fruit of peace Jesus carries (Isaiah 9:6). Now when I see things like that, He gives me peace and in Jesus’ name I don’t fear the devil anymore. And the coolest thing is that I’ve seen angels too! My, oh my, are they beautiful and more mighty and stronger than any stupid little demon.
I felt the spirit leading me to share one particular experience with you…
One night, I was in my room in Bocas laying in my bed about to go to sleep. Everyone else had already been asleep and I felt the urge to start praying. As I was praying in a low whisper, my voice started to go out. Then in my head, I thought “mmm weird” but I continued praying. Then, it felt like someone was sitting on my chest. I couldn’t breathe, I felt helpless (exactly how Satan wants us to feel, scared and alone). I asked God for strength and woke up my leader, Hannah, who was in the bed across from me. She immediately woke up, grabbed my head, and began praying over me. I could instantly start to breathe again. God has authority over EVERYTHING. If you have a bad dream at night and wake up and feel scared or alone, PRAY! Ask the Lord to send angels to protect your house; ask Him to anoint your head with peace. He WILL protect you & give you the peace you ask for.
The reality is, there are demons right now roaming the earth, (that’s blunt, but sometimes reality is hard) Most importantly there are angels who are constantly protecting us from those demonic strongholds that are trying to be placed upon us.
I challenge you to read Psalm 91. Read every word and pray that over yourself the next time you have a bad dream or even see something that seems a bit off. As crazy as it may seem, you are not crazy. The spiritual realm is a real thing, and we need to be aware of it. Start remembering that the Lord has authority over the devil and He has already won when Jesus defeated Satan and demons on the cross!
Now, I’m not sure how people will respond to this. Just know everything I’m about to say is raw, real, and needs to be talked about more in society. The idea of new age-ism is starting to really take over western culture. It warns us of these things all the way back to the book of Deuteronomy. It’s becoming a fad to have spellbooks or use crystals and energy from the earth. If you are reading this, know that I am not condemning any person who practices or believes these things. The Holy Spirit has put this heavy on my heart to share because of how much I have experienced on the race, and how it’s opening portals for the devil to come in to harm God’s people.
I just want to speak truth over this & make known that there are things that we don’t even realize that are making it easier for demons to cling to. Witchcraft, manifestation, all of that is real but it doesn’t mean it’s good. I am a firm believer that everything good, pure comes from God. The devil deceives us by telling us that everything that makes you feel good is what life is all about. Also having a hierarchy mindset is a big factor. Who predominantly can have it all, the looks, the most power. The devil manifests these types of things in our heads. We live in a prideful world. So if you believe you’re not good enough, then he will fill your head with ugly lies that are gonna make you want to do bad to others or yourself. There is good news though! We already have someone who is perfect and never fell into the temptation of what the world’s standard of perfectionism is. His name is Jesus, Yeshua, our perfect Savior.
1 John 2:15, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Since my experience in Bocas, my perspective has changed on how truly real the spiritual realm is.
I encourage you to ask the Lord to open your eyes to what’s really going around you. Not even to the extent of the gift of discernment. Just ask God to see through His eyes & you will begin to notice how corrupt certain things are on social media, tv, and other things in our daily lives. This is so that we all can be praying against the enemy and his schemes. By interceding, we can make a difference because prayer makes a difference. In 1 Timothy 4:1 it says, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” and Paul continues to say in Timothy 4:4-5, “ For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.”
LET US INTERCEDE AS THE BODY OF CHRIST & REBUKE DEMONIC STRONGHOLDS IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS’ CHRIST. AMEN.
